Hi, I’m Matthew Welde

I’ve spent most of my career protecting victims and survivors of domestic violence and holding their abusers accountable. In those difficult and sometimes heart-wrenching situations, I have seen the ugliness in this world but I have also seen the courage and grit shown by incredible survivors. Those experiences help me be grateful for the things that we do have and to embrace the opportunities to make hard choices.

We all know what the news channels want us – the people – to focus on: rage, conflict, pitting US against US. That is not how I will be as your next Representative to the U.S. Congress. My goal as your next Representative is simple: ensure that people have an easier time making ends meet so they can have a higher quality of life.

I’m running for Congress to focus on Possibility, Progress, and Solutions.

I’ll work to build access to more affordable housing, more affordable groceries, more affordable gas for their cars, and more affordable electric or heating bills. I’ll be a fighter for law enforcement and important priorities like public safety, firearm safety, proper law enforcement training, and more school resource officers. I’ll be a fighter for veterans to have access to health care both physically and mentally, and do all we can for Americans struggling to overcome opioid addiction. I’ll see to it that we maintain a healthy timber industry. And I’ll see to it that we have increased success helping the homeless population.

Time and time again, I’ve seen people in terrible situations make hard choices and create a better life for themselves. It’s not easy work but it keeps progress alive. I know that anything is possible and if we embrace the possible, we will create a better future.
